Who We Are
Bristol Jiu Jitsu is a premier martial arts academy led by 2nd-degree black belt Logan Griffin, dedicated to providing world-class instruction in a supportive, learning environment. We are a community of practitioners—from professional competitors to hobbyists and beginners—focused on the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to build confidence, functional fitness, and practical self-defense skills.
Meet Logan Griffin, the owner and head coach of Bristol Jiu Jitsu. A 2nd-degree black belt, Logan has spent the majority of his adult life immersed in the art, beginning his journey as a wrestler before achieving a 9-1 amateur MMA record.
He earned his black belt in 2018 after training under world-renowned figures all over the West Coast of Southern California, eventually finding his home under the tutelage of 11x World Champion Samuel Braga.
Beyond his competitive success at the highest levels, Logan is a King University graduate with a degree in Business Management and a dedicated family man who is passionate about building a supportive, ego-free community where students of all levels can excel.
Fun Facts:
Logan has a Bachelor’s Degree from King University in Business Management.
His favorite hobbies include: mountain biking, playing guitar, video editing, and any/all extreme sports.
He is also a new father and husband to a beautiful family.
His favorite Jiu-Jitsu techniques are the Berimbolo and the Knee Slice

Taylor, alongside his twin brother, chose the path of Jiu-Jitsu. As siblings always should, Taylor stuck by Logan’s side traveling and competing around the nation. Taylor comes from a background being a natural athlete in sports like basketball (as well as being the biggest Laker’s fan we’ve ever known). Together Logan and Taylor have trained thousands of hours keeping a full-time training regimen in Jiu-Jitsu. Now, Taylor pursues a career as a very successful financial advisor of Edward Jones while training consistently in his off time. He credits his work ethic from Jiu-Jitsu into a different field of work. Between the Griffin Twins there is over 30 years of experience.
Fun Facts:
Taylor has a Bachelor’s Degree from King University in Business Administration.
His favorite hobbies include: mountain biking, working out, and traveling.
He is also a great comedian, keeping a smile on everyone’s faces.
His favorite Jiu-Jitsu techniques are Spider Guard and Mount. Be careful, he loves to attack cheap submissions (wristlocks, smothers, flying triangles, and anything that constitutes an “easy victory”)

The head instructor of our Kid’s Program has been teaching martial arts of all types for over a decade. He initially started in Krav Maga, achieving a 2nd degree black belt, as well as wrestling in high school holding the varsity spot at 170lb. Seeking to improve his skills he started training Jiu-Jitsu under Samuel Braga (11x World Champion). After falling in love with Jiu-Jitsu he dedicated his life not only to competing around the country, but learning the philosophy behind this art. On a random training trip to Bristol Jiu-Jitsu he met his now wife, Kasey, during class. He decided to move from Knoxville to Bristol and make his home here. Earning his Brown Belt in 5 years, he seeks to bring his skill set to the youth of our community to empower them with the countless life lessons Jiu-Jitsu has to offer. Tristan is a full-time employee at Bristol Jiu-Jitsu and can be seen at the majority of classes throughout the week while training and assisting.

Tristan is a published author with over 5 books available on Amazon.
His favorite hobbies include: reading, writing, hiking, sleeping and making food with his wife.
Tristan’s satire sense of humor is sure to light up the room, no matter how awkward he may be.
His favorite Jiu-Jitsu techniques are Leg Locks and the Leg Drag.
Isaac Peake

Growing up in the sport with his father, Zac Peake, leading the way as a professional MMA fighter- Isaac was brought into this game as a young child. Through hard work and persistence, we have seen Isaac make huge strides in his competitive BJJ career. Isaac has been training under Logan and Taylor at Bristol Jiu Jitsu since 2018 and really adopts the same mindset as the twins. His presence is a huge part of the Bristol Jiu Jitsu culture. Isaac doesn’t know a stranger and is always willing to help out athletes of all ages before and after class, he has a far reach with our student base here that look up to him. A top talent in the Northeast Tennesse, Southwest Virginia BJJ scene, keep your eyes on Isaac in the near future. His goals are to win ADCC Trials and compete at the World Championships. His kickboxing skill are parallel, buttery smooth on his feet, Isaac is just a well rounded combat sports athlete who understands “the fight.”
Fun Facts:
Isaac is the class clown of Bristol Jiu Jitsu, his wittiness keeps everyone on their toes on a daily basis.
His favorite hobbies include: working with his hands, watching stand-up, he is a huge movie fanatic, and hanging with the Griffins!
Isaac’s favorite movie is “No Country for Old Men” and his favorite song is “Amazing” by Kanye West.
His favorite Jiu-Jitsu techniques are the top spin and arm bar.
Daniel Crockett

After a successful wrestling career where Daniel was able to acheive a state championship he focused on MMA. Daniel eventually held many professional MMA titles in many different organizations in several weight classes. One of the major MMA standouts from this community, he now focuses on BJJ and helping others. The passion for competing has now shifted into providing world class level instruction to his teammates and students. There is a contagious, undeniable energy that comes with Coach Crockett’s classes. When Crockett is running classes you get to see all the knowledge and wisdom he has gathered upon his decades of training. Daniel is a huge asset to our program here at Bristol Jiu Jitsu and we’re super thankful for all the investment he puts in to himself and people that surround him.
Fun Facts:
Daniel is known around here as the “Warrior in the Garden.” He doesn’t go around bragging that he made it to the UFC, he doesn’t feel the need to prove how tough he is. He’s humble and helpful- just stay on his good side!
His favorite hobbies include: cooking and eating! Being outside with his kids, soaking up the sun and inspiring others.
Crockett is a full time instructor at the YMCA
He grew up wrestling, winning a state championship at 189lbs in folkstyle and two times in freestyle. Eventually wrestling at Iowa Community College.

Taylor Vance

Our newest addition to the Bristol Jiu Jitsu Kickboxing Program- Taylor Vance. Bringing a high level technical understanding to each class- his style is very kick dominant. Taylor is currently 2-0 with 1 finish in amateur kickboxing bouts. You can catch a class with him on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6am as well as Saturdays at 7:30am. His passion for teaching stems from the love of seeing his students develop and fully understand the details as he sees them. Taylor works part-time at UPS and Painter Creek Marina at South Holston Lake- and still finds time to train more than most- Taylor is a super dedicated student to his craft.
Fun Facts:
Taylor is an avid snowboarder, in fact, in 2023 he moved to Montana to work and snowboard in the mountains as much as he could.
His favorite hobbies include: snowboarding, being on the lake, watching UFC, hanging out with his girlfriend and cooking!
Taylor is also a huge foodie when he doesn’t have to make weight.
He grew up playing football, basketball and soccer-eventually making it college to play.
